Representing Strength and Courage

As someone who was born and raised in Delaware, there are few other symbols that are as iconic to Delaware as the state bird, the Blue Hen.  From being the mascot of my alma mater, the University of Delaware, to the fact that chickens outnumber citizens of Delaware at a ratio of 200 to 1, the Blue Hen holds a special place in my heart.

So what does that have to do with psychotherapy?  I'm glad you asked!

Although small in stature, the Blue Hen is known to be mighty and a fighter.  It's a symbol of strength and courage; qualities that often go unseen at first glance.  These are characteristics that I believe we all have as humans: deep resilience, strength, and the ability to rise above challenges.

In my work, I see this kind of strength in my clients every day.  You might not feel strong right now, but like the Blue Hen, I know you carry within you the capacity to heal, to advocate for yourself, and to rise above and thrive.

That's the energy we'll nurture together in therapy.
