Insurance Information for Psychotherapy

Extended Health Benefits can be a great way to make paying for therapy session a bit easier.  There are two main ways that payment can be completed using your insurance: direct billing or submitting a claim after service.

Direct Billing

Blue Hen Psychotherapy may be able to direct bill psychotherapy sessions to your insurance depending on your policy.  Here are some insurance providers that may be eligible for direct billing:

  • Alberta Blue Cross

  • Beneva Inc.

  • Canada Life

  • Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance

  • First Canadian

  • Green Shield

  • Johnson Inc.

  • Johnston Group Inc.

  • Manion

  • CINUP

  • ClaimSecure

  • Cowan

  • Desjardins

  • Equitable

  • Manulife

  • Maximum Benefit

  • Medavie Blue Cross

  • TELUS AdjudiCare

  • Union Benefits

Every policy is different, and direct billing is not guaranteed.  Please feel free to reach out to your insurance provider or me for more information.

Out of Pocket Reimbursement

In the event that your insurance does not allow direct billing, there are still ways to take advantage of your extended health benefits.

Blue Hen Psychotherapy always provides receipts immediately after completion of service and payment that can be submitted to your insurance provider.  Sessions can be paid for out of pocket using credit card, eTransfer, or cash and you can submit the receipt to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

Please make sure you check with your insurance provider before commencing treatment to see if services by a "Registered Psychotherapist" are covered under your policy.

Don't Have Insurance?

Psychotherapy is still for you!  Payment for sessions can be completed via e-Transfer, credit card, or cash.  Please feel free to reach out to discuss payment options and what works best for you.
